The Yorkshire Coast.
Known as The Heritage Coast and part of the North York Moors National Park, the Cleveland Way nature trail runs as far north as Saltburn and south, past the hotel, to Scarborough. The most famous part would be the town of Whitby . Still an active deep sea fishing port, in summer it is a busy place with visitors from all over the world exploring the home port of Captain James Cook. Whitby Abbey is said to be haunted and was used as the basis of the Bram Stoker books, and is the point where Dracula came ashore. Smaller fishing villages include Runswick Bay, Staithes, Port Mulgrave and the lovely beaches at Sandsend.
Further south is the seaside town of Scarborough, with lots of things for family days out including the Sea Life Centre and Kinderland Fun Park.
